Rylan Thomas is an award-winning Métis-Canadian actor born and raised in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. His acting journey began at the age of 13 when he auditioned for the LaSalle Theatre’s 2018 Shakespeare in the Park production of Twelfth Night. This experience cultivated a strong interest in the arts and helped him gain performance experience from a young age. Rylan continued working with the LaSalle Theatre over the next four years, appearing in 14 plays ranging from original children’s theatre to classical Shakespearean texts.

A defining moment in his career took place in 2022 when Rylan attended the Canadian Model and Talent Convention (CMTC) in Toronto. There, he participated in workshops and seminars led by international casting directors and industry professionals, most notably Linda Kash. Rylan competed in five competitions and earned 3rd place in Improv, 2nd place in Self-Tapes, 1st place in TV Commercial, and the title of CMTC’s 2022 Grand Overall Actor of the Year.

Rylan continued his development through post-secondary training in the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting program at the University of Windsor. There, he expanded his craft to include movement-based work such as contact improvisation, physical storytelling, puppetry, and character studies. Rylan received intimacy and period training from professor Meghan Quinn, voice training from coach Laura Quigley, and acting training from directors Lionel Walsh and Lee Wilson. He also worked closely with industry professionals Kerry Ann Doherty, Alice Nelson, and Paula Wing.

While studying in Windsor, Rylan received the University of Windsor Alumni Scholarship for “outstanding potential in the performing arts,” awarded by his peers and professors. His final year in the BFA Acting program was cut short when he was offered a position as one of the Baillie Interns at the Shaw Festival for their 2026 season. He currently resides in Niagara-on-the-Lake and is covering roles in Tim Carroll’s Amadeus and Chris Abraham’s One for the Pot.

When Rylan isn’t working on his craft, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing cards, or heading to the court for a game of pickleball.
